In this episode of You're Not Alone, the 1in6 podcast, dancer and choreographer Wade Robson shares his journey as one of the most visible male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. With hosts Anthony Edwards and Beau Friedlander, Wade describes the "machine" of fame and grooming that surrounded his abuse, the numbness and compartmentalization that kept him silent for decades, and the moment, after the birth of his son, when he could no longer push it down. He speaks candidly about shame, the fear that telling the truth would destroy everything, and how disclosure became the day his life began changing for the better.
This is a conversation about male sexual abuse recovery and healing from childhood trauma: how survival strategies eventually expire, why there's no "ready," how to choose a safe first person to tell, and how somatic experiencing helped Wade understand that trauma lives in the body. He also shares the advocacy and community work that grew from his healing, his life mentoring practice and his "Circle of Men" support group.
If you've never told anyone, this episode is for you.
